Time is running out to submit your club tourney entry forms

Skates on

GET your skates on! Time is running out to get your entry forms in for the annual Carisbrooke club championship.

This year’s internal club tournament runs from Saturday, August 26, until Saturday, September 9, with a big Finals Day celebration planned for that date (Sunday, September 10, is being set aside as a reserve Finals Day option in case of poor weather).

However, the real date to take heed of is THIS SUNDAY, AUGUST 20, (big block, letters, shame can’t make them flash and do a dance) because that it the strict deadline for entry forms for this year’s tournament.

There’s no messing around with the cut-off point this year as daddy-to-be Jack Simpson, our Head Coach and Club Tournament Organiser, has more than a few other important domestic duties to be getting on with at the moment besides running the club champs. Let us help him, by not leaving it too late to get your entries in.

There are the usual array of handicap and level events to suit all abilities as well as age-group events for the more mature – and let’s face it, more attractive – members among us.

Entry forms are in the clubhouse and can also be downloaded here. Please take note of the ‘eligibility’ box to assist tournament organiser Jack with scheduling matches.

The tournament schedule is due to be put up in the clubhouse from Thursday, August 24, with the first matches then getting underway on Saturday, August 26.

The full list of draws is as follows:

  • Men’s level singles
  • Ladies’ level singles
  • Under-17s boys’ singles
  • Under-17s girls’ singles
  • Men’s level doubles
  • Ladies’ level doubles
  • Mixed level doubles
  • Men’s over-35s level singles
  • Veterans (over-45s) men’s level doubles
  • Veterans mixed level doubles (men: over 45s, women: over-40s)
  • Men’s handicap singles
  • Ladies’ handicap singles
  • Men’s handicap doubles
  • Ladies’ handicap doubles
  • Mixed handicap doubles

Entry costs £3 per person, per event. Cheques can be made payable to ‘Carisbrooke LTC’.

Meanwhile, the club’s junior tournament finals will be held on Saturday, September 16, from 3pm onwards. A reserve date of Saturday, September 23, is being reserved in case of inclement weather.

There are draws this year for the under-12s, under-10s, under-9s and under-8s.
