Fore…the club is organising a fun Golf day for this May

AN EXCITING piece of news to emerge from the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday (March 23) is that a Golf Day is being added to the club’s social schedule for this spring.
The last time such an outing occurred was a good ten years ago now when 25 or so members, augmented by some friendly stalwarts from Roundhill Tennis Club in Leicester, hacked around Western Park Golf Club for an extremely enjoyable afternoon (or evening, as the case was for the back-markers bringing up the rear!).
So it is with considerable joy that a golfing event is being added to this year’s Social Calendar at Carisbrooke.
With many thanks to organiser Bruce Wattie, who confirmed the good news at the AGM.
It is taking place at the plush Glen Gorse Golf Club on the Oadby/Great Glen border and the date for your diaries is Friday, May 20, from 1pm. The first tee-off time will be at 1.30pm.
There will also be a hot meal served in the clubhouse afterwards with a mini-presentation for the best Stableford points score, longest drive and nearest-the-pin contests.
Entry costs just £40 which covers the green fees, food and the prizes.
To express your interest, please text/call Bruce on 07702 370 899 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
A poster and sign-up sheet will also be appearing in the clubhouse in the not-too-distant future.
So dust off your clubs and spikes, hit the driving range and look forward to what should be another famous Carisbrooke outing!
