FIXTURES 2017

Welcome to our archive home page for all of Carisbrooke Tennis Club’s results for the 2017 season.

Summer 2017

The first match of the 2017 season took place on Sunday, April 2, 2017, with the men’s Aegon 1st team travelling to Sutton Coldfield, while the popular summer doubles league season got under way in early May.

It ended up being another highly successful season for Carisbrooke with our men’s 1st team winning the Premier League title for the fourth time in the past five years and our Mixed A team winning the top league by a solitary point over Ashby Castle.

Our men’s 4th team also secured silverware after topping Group 5A, earning promotion to Group 4 for 2018, and the men’s veterans 1st team finished as runners-up in Group 2, a bounceback year after being relegated the previous term.

Meanwhile, our ladies’ veterans 1st team nearly clinched the top Group 1 title over Leicestershire A, eventually finishing as runners-up, just a season after finished 6th in 2016.

Our men’s Aegon 1st team had an excellent season in the National League – Midlands division, finishing with a competitive 5-2 record and only missing out on qualification to the highly-regarded national stages on set difference.

The ladies’ 1st team continued their enviable record of playing top-flight tennis (25 years and counting) to survive in Group 1 and the ladies’ 3rd team had a creditable season, finishing in a strong 4th place.

This success on the court, along with other strides made in our coaching programme, membership numbers and facilities upgrades, were a big factor in Carisbrooke being named as Club of the Year at the Tennis Leicestershire Awards held in February 2018.
