The dust might have settled on another Leicestershire County Championships, but another tournament is just around the corner with much higher prestige at stake – club bragging rights!

The 15-day Carisbrooke Club Championships begins later this month and members are being urged to get their entries in for the annual tennis-fest.

The 2019 tournament kicks off on Saturday, August 31, and continues every day thereafter until the Finals Day extravaganza on Saturday, September 14*.

There will be usual array of level, handicap and age-group events to suit all abilities, with a total of 15 draws across the board, including an under-17s events for boys and girls.

Entry forms are available now in the clubhouse or can be downloaded by clicking on the link here.

Once completed, they can be placed in the entry-forms box in clubhouse or emailed to Head Coach Jack Simpson at jacksimpson275@hotmail.com

It costs £3 per event and all members are being reminded to include payment with their entries and to remember to fill in the ‘availability’ section on the form as this helps the organisers** massively when scheduling the matches.

This year’s closing date for entries is Friday, August 23.

The full list of draws is as follows:

  • Men’s level singles
  • Ladies’ level singles
  • Under-17s boys’ singles

In line with recent changes to the county’s rules, the veterans’ events will adhere to those new regulations – i.e.the new age limit is 40, with players eligible to play if they reach the age of 40 before December 31, 2019.

It is our most-supported event of the year, so make sure you don’t miss out on the action!

*= As in previous years, Sunday, September 15, has been set aside as a provisional alternative Finals Day date if poor weather intervenes on the Saturday.

**= In reality there is just one scheduler – Jack – so please do help him out by filling in the ‘availability’ section to try to make his life that little bit easier.
