Carisbrooke LTC Club Championship 2016 in association with Drive Vauxhall Leicester
THE bar at Southernhay Road has been suitably drunk dry and some of the injuries may have healed following the recent County Champs, so now thoughts turn quickly to our very own club tournament.
The Carisbrooke LTC Club Championship 2016 is running this year from Saturday, August 27, until Saturday, September 10, where there will be the always-entertaining Finals Day celebrations on September 10 with lashings of beverages, barbecued food and presentations galore.
There will be the usual wide range of draws to enter; level and handicap events, men’s, ladies’, mixed, over-35s, over-45s/40s, vets and under-17s.
The men’s level doubles section will again feature the unwritten rule of upper-level players only playing with those from lower teams to ensure an evenly-matched and fun draw.
Entry forms are out now, and can be found in the clubhouse by the noticeboard near the stairs. You can also download a copy of the form by clicking here.
The club is also delighted to announce that the tournament is being sponsored this year by Drive Vauxhall Leicester, of Freemens Common Road, Aylestone Road in the city.
As part of this deal, thanks to committee member Simon Crace, some of the dealership’s vehicles will be on show during Finals Day and it is hoped a representative from the firm will be able to present the trophies on the day.
The entry fee is being frozen at £3 this year but there will be an element of free floodlights to help keep members’ costs down.
If people could please ensure that accompanying payment (cheques payable to ‘Carisbrooke LTC’) is provided with their completed entries and then placed in the red box provided. If you want to pay with cash, Jack will likely be on-hand coaching to be paid in person. There will be a strict no-pay, no-play policy this year.
The deadline for entries is just a few weeks away – Tuesday, August 16.
