Following feedback received at our Annual General Meeting recently, Carisbrooke Tennis Club is re-launching Saturday afternoon tennis mix-in sessions.
Some members felt an additional form of Club Night-style mix-in was needed, especially due to the increasing number of adult beginners/intermediate players who have joined the club in recent years.
So harking back to the not-too-distant past when a Saturday afternoon mix-in thrived, the club’s committee has decided to put its support behind new Saturday afternoon sessions.
Other days and evenings were considered, but due to the pressure on court time during the match season, it was felt this time was the best time to chose when courts would be available.
The new initiative is being launched on Saturday, May 18, with an American doubles tournament from 2pm.
For those who haven’t played in such a tournament before, they include 20-minute timed matches where the four doubles players all swap partners. The focus is on social, friendly games, where people get to meet new numerous new people in a short space of time.
A sign-up sheet for the tournament has now been put behind the bar for those who would like to put their names down for the event.
Alternatively, email organiser Jo Pochin at firstname.lastname@example.org
After the tournament, the mix-in sessions will then take place every Saturday thereafter from 2pm.
If members have any ideas about how to enhance the sessions going forward, such as providing food or other fun complementary activities, please email the new chairman David Oliver at email@example.com
