COMMUNITY-minded members who fancy helping the club’s General Management Committee are being reminded of a key deadline ahead of this year’s Annual General Meeting.

There are vacancies on the committee for both the chairman’s role and that of treasurer, and anyone willing to take on these positions is urged to get in touch soon.

Nominations for chairman must be submitted no later than 14 days before the AGM – which is taking place this year on Wednesday, March 23.

That means the deadline for 2016 nominations is Wednesday, March 9. So get your thinking-caps on now!

The treasurer’s role would ideally suit someone with a financial or accounting background but any help would be greatly appreciated. The current treasurer, Peter Blackwell, is retiring at this year’s AGM after about 15 years’ service during two stints on the committee.

If you would like to be considered for either of these posts, please email interim chairman David Oliver at

New blood is always welcome on the committee, so if you would like to help as a general member or on one of the sub-committees, the committee would also love to hear from you.

In other AGM news, the packs which are sent out to all members ahead of the big meeting will be in the post soon – so keep an eye out for those on your doormat very soon. It’s required reading!
